Best Sports in Austin

Austin hosts a long list of great sporting events each year, with Texas Longhorns football drawing the biggest crowds. UT typically plays 5-6 home football games per season, which all wind up selling out the 100,000+ seat DKR Royal Memorial Stadium. Formula One is still new to Austin, but has brought the Austin sports scene into the attention of the entire World with the United States Grand Prix. Circuit of the Americas is the track built to host the main F1 race, as well as, other popular auto/motorcycle races throughout the year.

The local sports that are most popular are Austin Aztecs soccer, Round Rock Express baseball and Texas Stars hockey. The Austin Rodeo is another great sport/concert event that happens each Spring at the Travis County Expo Center.

The newest Austin sporting event is the X Games, which ESPN put in the Austin for the first time in 2014. The X Games occur downtown and at COTA track; they include motocross, skateboarding, and other popular action sports.
