Venue Guide

The Moody Theater is one of the newest additions to Austin’s music scene, and those that have been there will tell you it’s a very welcome sight. The sound and acoustics are said to be top notch, and while it’s bigger and has balcony seating, there’s not a bad seat in the house. The venue replaced the smaller Studio 6A on the University of Texas campus as the host of the PBS show “Austin City Limits” since its 2010 opening.

The Moody Theater is located inside the W Hotel in downtown Austin, and has become of the must-stops for some of the biggest names in music. Artists like Robert Plant, John Fogerty, and Coldplay have taken the stage, and the list of impressive names will only get bigger. The venue has also hosted events during SXSW, including panels, concerts and Cirque du Soleil shows.

The Moody Theater has become part of Austin’s live music reputation that’s known around the world, and while some of the other venues are pushing outside of the downtown area, Moody has claimed its spot in the heart of Austin.
